The Midlands Meander is a celebration of the senses, so tempt your palette with some of the tastes of the Midlands. The range of goodies grown, produced and sold in the area is dazzling, from fruit and veggies to cheeses, liqueurs, jams and much more. And there are so many ways to enjoy them, with many outlets offering samplings. Try the simple, picnic-style delights of the farm stalls and country pantries, where you can choose from just- picked fruit, salads and vegetables, golden honey, fragrant breads and sweets, pickles and preserves. Visit the farms where different cheeses are made of goat or cow’s milk, or sample the savoury, succulent taste of sausages made from time- honoured recipes. Delight in the genuine flavours of freshly caught fish and free-range eggs, or enjoy hormone- free beef raised by local farmers.

And if you’re tired of doing it for yourself, then tempt your taste buds with the vast selection of eateries to choose from, where the ingredients are often locally sourced and the chefs are still passionate about their creations. Many are renowned personalities, who have left the rat race to become newly inspired by the Midlands. From snug fireside corners in pubs that make their own beers, to coffee-shops serving the freshest in tortes, cakes and sticky puddings, to ‘dress-up-to-the-nines’ sophistication, the choice is yours. Just remember that to do it properly, you need some time. We don’t really do fast food here. So pour another glass of wine, stretch out your legs and set aside the afternoon – be assured that it’ll be worth it.
